The Cayuga Nature Center needs your help to continue its twenty-five year tradition of excellence.

We have been able to bring innovative exhibits and programs to the community like Summer Camp and School Break Camps, TEAM Challenge, and our Public and School Programs covering a wide array of environmental education areas. Many of these have been made possible thanks entirely to the wonderful support of members and volunteers and their generous gifts of time and materials.

We have been successful at securing grants for primary funding of many of our projects, but grants simply do not cover the basic costs of keeping the Nature Center itself in operation. Our funding agencies expect us to look to our members and other forms of local support for day-to-day operations. That's where you come in.

So how can you help?

To make a tax-deductible donation, please contact our Executive Director, Tom Trencansky, at 273-6260 or director@cayuganaturecenter.org

You can also mail your donation to:

Cayuga Nature Center
1420 Taughannock Blvd
Ithaca, NY 14850

Thanks! We will send a letter confirming your generous gift!

Your donation is tax-deductible.  CNC's Tax ID # is 16-1187385

No one who works at CNC has one function separate from all other operations; we all work together and help each other in a number of areas, whether it means jumping in on an educational program, greeting visitors, taking out the compost, or folding newsletters for a mailing. What we look for most in employees is a diversity of skills and a willingness and enthusiasm to inhabit a wide array of roles. Transportation is mandatory, and experience / certification in education and CPR are desirable for a number of positions. Salary varies with experience.

For more information on the positions we are currently looking to fill, send an email to director@cayuganaturecenter.org. The Executive Director will explain to you where to send a resume.

Internship Opportunities

CNC also offers lots of opportunities for internships, whether you're looking for something during the semester or over a break. In the past, we have worked with students from several local colleges and universities including Cornell, Ithaca College, SUNY Cortland, and TC3. Many of the positions are unpaid, but we do offer compensation for some, especially over the summer months. We work with school administrators and instructors to secure college credit for projects completed at the nature center. For ideas on possible internships, browse through both the Volunteer and Job Opportunities. We can also, however, design an individualized project for you to best suit the specific requirements of your program in school.
