Spring brings with it new born wildlife of all kinds! If you find a baby animal, leave it be. Young animals do not need our help. If it appears to be alone, its parent is likely nearby, keeping close watch and waiting for you to leave.
If a fledgling bird is on the ground, it is very likely supposed to be there! You can learn more about birds specifically here: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/i-found-a-baby-bird-what-do-i-do/
If an animal is clearly injured, please call a licensed wildlife rehabilitator before taking any action.
You can find a list of state licensed rehabilitators for various species here: https://www.dec.ny.gov/cfmx/extapps/sls_searches/index.cfm?p=live_rehab
The Cayuga Nature Center cannot take inured/orphaned wildlife. Unless the animal is clearly injured/orphaned, please leave the animal alone.
